Wiahapa-Ngaere Field
| Client | Origin Energy |
| Field | Waihapa-Ngaere Oil Field |
| Year | 2010, ongoing |
| Location |
Onshore, New Zealand |
| Background |
This field was discovered in 1987 and is now depleting. |
| Objective |
To quantify incremental reserves through in fill drilling. |
| Methodology |
The oil accumulation of the Waihapa Field is contained within the fracture system of the Tikorangi Limestone formation. In the past, conventional simulation has been used to investigate the potential for using the field for gas storage. The study also identified potential recovering undip, or attic, oil through in fill drilling. The current study will update the conventional simulation model using stochastic simulation. The results of this will be used to asess the range of economically recoverable (incremental) reserves obtainable through in fill drilling.
